The Rise Of Ludwig Van Beethoven - 1458 Words

The rise of Ludwig van Beethoven into the ranks of history s greatest composers was paralleled by and in some ways a consequence of his own personal tragedy and despair. Beginning in the late 1790 s, the increasing buzzing and humming in his ears sent Beethoven into a panic, searching for a cure from doctor to doctor. By October 1802 he had written the Heiligenstadt Testament confessing the certainty of his growing deafness, his consequent despair, and suicidal considerations. Yet, despite the personal tragedy caused by the infirmity in the one sense which ought to be more perfect in [him] than in others, a sense which [he] once possessed in the highest perfection, a perfection such as few in [his] profession enjoy, it also served as a motivating force in that it challenged him to try and conquer the fate that was handed him. He would not surrender to that jealous demon, my wretched health before proving to himself and the world the extent of his skill. Thus, faced with su!ch great impending loss, Beethoven, keeping faith in his art and ability, states in his Heiligenstadt Testament a promise of his greatness yet to be proven in the development of his heroic style. By about 1800, Beethoven was mastering the Viennese High-Classic style. Although the style had been first perfected by Mozart, Beethoven did extend it to some degree. Grendel, by John Gardner Essay Example For Students

Grendel, by John Gardner Essay Throughout time people have wished to understand what animals want and to understand what they are saying. In Grendel, by John Gardner, the humans had the opportunity to understand the monster Grendel, but wouldnt give him a chance because he was different. The humans just assumed Grendel was driven by animal instinct, and because of this, they shunned him. What they didnt realize about Grendel was the fact that he thought the same as them and went through all the emotions they did. Grendel is more human than animal because he thinks and shows emotions on the same level as humans. The biggest thing that separated Grendel from the rest of the animals was the fact that he tried to apply reason to everything. All of the animals were stupid and didnt really study anything. They all just acted based on hormones and instinct. This was evident when Grendel was trapped in a tree stump and was facing a charging bull. The bull could have easily killed Grendel had it thought of where to strike, but instead he fought by instinct, blind mechanism ages old. Hed have fought the same way against an earthquake or an eagle. The bull would strike the same place over and over and all Grendel had to do was move his leg to avoid injury. Grendel knew the bull was no danger to him and was able to relax and even sleep while the bull was charging. Most of the animals in that situation would have continually struggled to break free of the tree even after the bull missed them multiple times. Grendel thought through everything and tried to truly understand why things were the way they were, and why people acted in the strange ways they did. He even tried to reason through why he was attracted to the Queen Wealtheow. He treated her more as a mathematical equation than he treated her as a person. He described her as Not easy to define. Mathematically, perhaps a torus, loosely cylindrical, with swellings and constrictions at intervals- This kind of made Grendel more human than most humans were. When a human is attracted to another they normally just accept it as natural, natural instinct. Grendel became attracted to Wealtheow and his reasoning came in over his instinct. Another thing that made Grendel more human than animal was the fact that he needed to do things to keep himself from getting bored. The animals in the book, as usual, acted on instinct and this drove them throughout the day. They never thought, so they never realized they werent really accomplishing anything, and never realized that they should be bored. Grendel on the other hand needed to constantly do something to amuse himself. He spied on the people and when that wasnt enough he interacted with them. At one point, Grendel becomes bored with constantly coming and eating the humans, that when one keeps attacking him, Grendel keeps him alive just to have fun with him. The person that constantly tried to attack Grendel was named Unferth, and he was trying to make a name for himself. Instead of eating Unferth, Grendel toys with him. The first time they met Grendel was throwing apples at him. He lifted his sword to make a run at me, and I laughed-howled-and threw and apple at him. He dogged, and then his mouth dropped open Hey! he yelled. A forgivable lapse. And now I was raining apples at him and laughing myself weak. . Grendel basically demonstrated human thought process. A cat will toy with a mouse before it eats it, but only a human will toy with something then not kill it. Grendel had no intention of killing Unferth. Grendel also had fun with the priest Ork when he decided to act like the God of destruction. Is somebody here? he whimpers. It is I. I say. The destroyer. . .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f , .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f .postImageUrl , .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f , .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f:hover , .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f:visited , .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f:active { border:0!important; } .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f:active , .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .udb6020ead2486b3e0bc41c25b51c553f:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Consider the Pardoner's Prologue and the Sermon Interlude at the beginning of his tale EssayThe final thing that makes Grendel more human than animal is the fact that he kills out of anger and not instinct. The only reasons animals try to kill things are because they need to eat or they are defending their young. Grendel also plays with a goat before he kills it, he stays away from it using weapons to kill it instead of his hands. Right before his death, Grendel is sitting on a mere when a goat climbs up towards him. At first he is amused by how stupid the goat is for climbing when he will really reach nothing at the top. But as the goat gets closer Grendel becomes more and more annoyed, until he finally becomes so angry that he kills him. I tip a boulder and let it fall thundering toward him I lay the tree sideways, wait for the goat to be in better range, then shove Death shakes his body the way high wind shakes trees. He climbs towards me. I snatch up a stone. . By the time Grendel had picked up the final stone, the goat was already going to die, but Grendel kept at it because of his hate and anger directed at it, those two emotions are human and not animal. Grendel is more of a person than an animal, because he has more human traits than animals. The trait that seems to draw him closer to being a human than any other, is his ability to hate. Animals dont hate, because they act on instinct and not thought. The ability to think and reason like a human is also Grendels downfall. If Grendel had never thought about how similar he was to humans he would never have been involved with them. He would be running around mountains with goats and mounting trees with bulls, instead of being killed in a mead hall by Beowulf.

The rotating object indicated the appearance of the first three-dimensional animation films. After few years of the completion of â€Å"Sun Stone†, commercial 3D computer software and hardware came out. Experimental animation may cannot attract the audience or bring high box-office returns immediately. The purpose of the creator is not commercial. The exploration and experience will open the way to the development of the commercial animation, and these are the source of bringing audience surprise and inspiration. However, many experimental animation directors are not recognized by the society, because as an ndividual creation, experimental animation’s social influence and communication effectiveness is far less than commercial animation. At present, only directors of Croatia, Russia and a few of other countries have been officially recognized as part of the intellectual circles. Some of the professional animation studios, such as the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) and American co-production company (UPA), etc. made a great contribution for the development of experimental animation. The range of target audience of experimental animation may be relatively small. Many people do not appreciate the works of experimental animation. Even some professional animation artists think that most of the experimental animations are too rough and the characters are also lack of beauty. In fact, this is mainly because the creator tests new materials and media in the progress of exploring. There will always have some difficult problems during the probation period which lead to the animation seems to be â€Å"simple†. Moreover, the character design of the animation related to the aesthetics of the artist. It does not meet the character requirements of commercial animation. It demonstrates through the form of short animation, and also has a high degree of generality and originality. It conveys a lot of information in order to attract audiences. Many professional animation artists became too cautious due to the limit of animation technology. While experimental animation can meet their needs of art, and also enable them to achieve their artistic ideals. Experimental animation has a long historical process in the aspect of innovation of the form and content. Although it is independent of the mainstream entertainment economy, there are more and more fans join in the creating work of experimental animation which has increasingly become a symbol of prosperity and cultural industry. Overall, experimental animation with its uncommon original spirit, special audio-visual language, extremely individual expression way and the exploration of connotation, provided a free and open art battlefield for those artists whom love animation film with passion, the noumenon of animation got biggest display. Review of Chinese experimental animation Highly abstracted experimental animation appeared in the western countries during the early period. The experimental of Chinese animation gestate in the development of animation. Chinese experimental animation tries to cast off the effect of other form. To produce new style what have special feature of china. Absorb the express technology from Chinese traditional painting, Drama and other civilian art. Produce a lot of good works. But we have to say that Chinese is declining after a gold age time. Both the meaning and the express technology can’t dialog with international aesthetics and philosophy tide. So it must be a good thing to compare Chinese experimental animation with Europe experimental animation in order to find the difference between them. In China, most of the hand-drawing animations used commercial production methods But Chinese animation artists also created a lot of very ethnic and geographical characteristics style, such as ink animation. The content seems to be simple, and also a lack of philosophical. This is mainly because the animations are for different levels of audience. Animations in most western countries are adult-oriented, while most of the Chinese animations are for teenagers. Chinese experimental animation made a lot of exploration in artistic, but it is almost a blank in experimental and abstraction, which greatly limits the imagination of Chinese animation artists. three monks Personalization is not only the soul of art, but also the soul of animation artist. In 1950s, the Chinese animation developed a distinctive and consistent style, but the artists individual style had not been properly developed. Under the unified â€Å"common†, Chinese hand-drawn experimental animation is lack of a lively personality. Today, China is suffering the impact of modern economy, and is also facing new challenges of the values. Some people think that the reason why there is no development in Chinese animation industry is their concepts are too traditional. Some of Chinese animation artist even want to give up nationalization, and advocate changing to be international . Obviously, this is not a practicable plan. † Three monks†, produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio, is a successful example. Although it incorporates modern elements of western countries, but fundamentally speaking, it should be classified in another tradition of the Chinese culture emphasizes spirituality. The innovation of narrative structure enriched the traditional style. † [4] Conclusion Experimental Animation combines elements of film, pure art, materials, music and graphic design. It is a composite art form. Its aesthetic origins came from western contemporary art and ideas in the field of new media. Experimental Animation is not only a manifestation of personality and formal innovation, but also includes in-depth thinking in philosophy, ideas and aesthetic. Known as the Chinese School of experimental animation had a very distinctive national characteristic, it based on the manifestations of traditional Chinese painting, folk art and opera, conveys an immersive art experience. Making good use of Chinese cultural elements can bring a better understand of the nationalization style and the traditional Chinese conception to the audience. However, nationalization style cannot rely on the accumulation of Chinese elements. Although there are Chinese elements in animation, but simply depend on the Chinese elements cannot interpret the Chinese conception. Chinese traditional and folk art is an inexhaustible source of art for us when we are creating animation. I think Chinese experimental animation can find way out from structure of Chinese art conception and spiritual levels.

Essay on Policy-making in the Federal SystemEssay Writing Service

Essay on Policy-making in the Federal SystemEssay Writing Service Essay on Policy-making in the Federal System Essay on Policy-making in the Federal SystemToday the U.S. government plays a significant role in finding solutions to various public policy-related issues, involving conflicting crosscurrents. Besides, popular government’s responsibility to solve various problems caused by public policy often exceeds the capacity of state and local authorities to respond effectively. Public policies developed at the national level may fail to address the key issues influenced by the great diversity of interests at the local level. Moreover, the effectiveness of the policy is debatable in terms of the constitutional framework of federalism. Obamacare is a public policy that deserves special attention because its effectiveness is debatable. Thesis statement: Obamacare is a new public policy, the effectiveness of which is debatable in terms of the principle of federalism.Obamacare: background information  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Obamacare is one of the federal policies that pr ovide support to Americans in the field of health care. The policy raises the issues of federalism because it requires national, state, and local interaction and invites tension across different levels of government. The key elements of the policyThe problem Obamacare is supposed to solve is the problem of uninsured, poor American citizens. Although the majority of Americans use the benefits under Medicaid, the so-called working poor Americans do not have health care insurance. This group of American citizens involves those people who â€Å"make too much to meet income threshold for benefits but not enough to reasonably afford health care† (Obamacare Simplified, 2013, p. 24).The history of the policyObamacare, or the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, was signed into law by the U.S President Obama in 2010. Today this federal statute represents an important regulatory tool of the U.S. health care system. The policy raises issues of federalism because it is based on the argument that â€Å"the law’s expansion of Medicaid violates the principle of federalism embodied in provisions such as Tenth Amendment† (Foley, 2012, p. 36).Evaluation of the various pros and cons about the policyObamacare as a federal policy is a controversial one. The debate about the effectiveness of the policy involves both pros and cons. The main pros of the policy include: the affordability of health insurance, the expansion of insurance coverage, the use of tax credits by employees, saving money by millions of senior Americans on Medicare insurance programs, gaining access to women’s health services by millions of American women, etc. (Skousen, 2013).The main cons of the policy include: opting out of Medicaid expansion plans, creation of new boards or agencies, establishment of new programs, changes in the insurance of employees by firms, which may lead to fines, damage to employment opportunities, violation of religious principles in case of increased c ontraception rate, considerable increase in the tax rate, etc. (Skousen, 2013).Actually, the pros and cons can be evaluated from two different perspectives. The policy’s effectivenessThe term â€Å"policy effectiveness† refers to a public policy, which provides the opportunities for achieving the desired outcome. Effectiveness can be measured by assessing the policy performance criteria. Obamacare provides the opportunities for increasing the affordability of health insurance through the considerable reduction of the uninsured rate and expansion of public and private health insurance coverage. The costs of health care services for Americans and the government should be reduced. The policy’s consistency with the constitutional framework of federalism  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   American federalism’s constitutional framework stands for enhancing democracy through the established laws and regulations. Under the constitutional framework of Ameri can federalism, the states can be viewed as sovereign entities, which have their own powers based on the Constitution, and which cannot be transgressed by the federal government. The federal government cannot use the constitutional power in order to force the states to implement certain federal policies (Ferrara, 2012).The federal policy discussed in this paper is not consistent with the constitutional framework of federalism. According to recent studies, â€Å"Obamacare transgresses state sovereignty and violates the constitutional framework of federalism† (Ferrara, 2012, p.1). In other words, the policy’s expansion of the Medicaid program violates the Tenth Amendment. Conclusion  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Thus, it is necessary to conclude that Obamacare involves conflicting crosscurrents. The policy creates certain problems caused by its inconsistency with the constitutional framework of federalism, although the effectiveness of the policy is promisin g. Obamacare promises to reduce health care costs through more effective health care delivery plan.

Police Chief William Bratton and his Transformational police Research Paper

Police Chief William Bratton and his Transformational police leadership style - Research Paper Example job following supposed personal difference with Giuliani and later in 2002; he worked as a private consultant with Kroll associates also known as LAPD’s. In 2007, the Los Angeles commissioner allotted him to a second five-year term (Bratton, 2011). Bratton rose speedily all the way through the ranks of the Boston police department, where he cleaned up the city’s subways and pioneered community policing. He cracked down on slight offenses when he became New York’s transit police, like turnstile jumping on the assumption that the people who commit severe crime subversive also commit minor crimes. When Bratton realized his dream of being the America top cop, he made sure that there was a 10 percent drop in crime rate (Bratton & Knobler, 2011). Bratton and his friends used computer mapping to locate crime hidings and then cleaned up the areas by means of law enforcement. Tools such as ‘quality of life enforcement’ were used to curtail minor crimes like prostitution, panhandling and squeegeeing in order to create the streets less tempting to bad criminals. He made all districts police commander answerable – they were to report problems and progress in their locales during departmental meetings. In 1994 William Bratton took over, disorder and crime were so high such that it appeared a city out of power. In America, the rate of crime was higher than anything else in 1980s was. He recalls that the atmosphere was in disorder, decayed and criminality greeted him when he was appointed as the head city’s transit police. NYPD too was in a state of confusion and inefficiency. So many lazy people, corrupt, ineffective staff who were demotivated and unaccountable, surrounded it. This department was confused due to valiant and unsuccessful hard work of Bratton predecessors to introduce policing into all day functioning practices. What Bratton needed was a huge shake up of attitude, accountabilities, leadership inspirational and direction sense, which he gave all

Eichmann in Jerusalem Holocaust Museum - Essay Example In 2002 Maya Kodnani sponsored the killing of 95 in Gujarat riots by handing out swords to the mobs. He was sober, but he committed the crime with diligence. Maya is sane as he operates a clinic and he is the gynecologist by profession (Haugen 189). In addition, Tytler Jagdish was among the key individuals who participated in the Program of 1984 against the Sikhs. He was a normal human being and not insane compared to Eichmann. This means that Eichmann was murdered as a sacrifice for many others who committed the crimes. The diagnosis made by the doctors contributed more of the inhuman activities against him. The writer who is Arendt was trying to shelter herself using the crimes that Eichmann was accused of committing. She used sarcasm in her presentation for readers to understand her contempt on Eichmann instead of presenting Eichmann’s internal instances. Arendt considered and described Eichmann as a self-absurd and pathetic creature who does not understand the alternatives steps in his actions (Haugen 91). The presentation was meant to shock readers that Eichmann cannot understand even the obvious things. This also described Eichmann that he does not exist in the universe of morality where normal things are done. The strategy in which Arendt used did not allow Eichmann to defend himself in the court. The readers were made to understand that the judges made decisions on their own understanding and not as per Arendt’s narrative. The judges viewed how Eichmann’s followed his external orders and not by his defense. Arendt disagreed with those who described the narrative about Eichmann as being unreliable. She said that the defense and the prosecution have their judicial roles. The prosecutors did not believe on what Eichmann was saying because he believed they were not among his duties.

Making Cross Functional Decisions

Making Cross Functional Decisions INTRODUCTION Strategic management is the art and science of formulating, implementing and evaluating cross-functional decisions that will enable an organization to achieve its objectives. It involves the systematic identification of specifying the firms objectives, nurturing policies and strategies to achieve these objectives, and acquiring and making available these resources to implement the policies and strategies to achieve the firms objectives. Strategic management also integrates the activities of the various functional sectors of a business, such as marketing, sales, production to achieve organizational goals. It is generally the highest level of managerial activity, usually imitated by the board of directors and executive team. Strategic management hopes to provide overall direction to the company has ties to the field of organization studies. Strategic planning is a management tool, period. In short, strategic planning is a disciplined effort to produce fundamental decisions and actions that shape and guide what an organization is, what it does, and why it does it, with a focus on the future. Strategic management also allocates the right amount of resources to the different parts of your business so that those assigned to particular goals have what they need to meet their objectives. This ranges from providing your workers with the right supplies to enacting systems by which employees receive the necessary training, all work processes are tested, and all information and data generated is documented. To effectively manage your business strategically, every inch of your company must have its needs met in these ways. Furthermore, one must know that two businesses cannot be same and there should be some basic differences between them. Because of this, the goals and the plans of action are different for each business. Plus, the strategies for long term and short term development should be different and these need to be applied separately. QUESTION 1: Explain how someone can be a manager but not a leader, a leader but not a manager, and both a manager and a leader. A manager is a person with a job of overseeing one or more employees or department to ensure these employees or departments do their job or assigned duties as required. A manager helps others to get more done by motivating the employees, providing directions , making sure the employees working together towards a common goal, and providing feedback. A new manager may be responsible for a small team or a small project. Usually a senior manager will watch over his or her work. The manager will have to learn the strengths and weaknesses of the team members, instruct a work to the team members, guiding team members to reach goals, provide the tools needed by the team and motivate them to do their task. Usually , a new manager has limited responsibility for money issues and little chances to approve or make an expenditures. They have to review and approve timesheets for their employees and may have the chances to approve expense accounts. The term of manager is not the same for leader since the two terms are not the same. A manager must ensure the appropriate delivery of human resources and funding to meet the routine daily productivity objectives. The manager is known as detailed oriented. Mangers don not see the overall picture and are less interested regarding the long-term corporate goals and mission. They are worried about details; as a result, they do not make them a good leader. Some managers may have certain leadership qualities but they remain too focused on their daily operations and are unable to provide direction and vision to the organization. A manager plans, organizes, leads, and controls whereas a leader influence others through communication, motivation, discipline, direction and dynamics Typically, the goals are set for a beginning manager by someone higher ranking in an organization. Here , the manager have to develop a plan to achieve the goal set. They have to provide feedbacks to their employees as they work with those plans. To be a manager , developing skills at all level is important . At a beginning level , examples of two area where a manager need to focus their skill development are the ability to manage their meetings and developing their own planning tools such as to do a list. A leader is different from manager. A leader is a person who has vision, a drive and a commitment to achieve that vision, and the skills to make it happen. A leader see a problem that needs to be fixed or a goal that needs to be achieved. A leader is also a person who guides others towards a common goal, showing the employees by example and creating an environment in which other team members feel active and involved in any process or task. A leader is a good listener. Leaders have to keep their mind open to others ideas. They can come up with new ways to accomplish the goal set. It is the leaders job to make sure that everyone in the group is being heard. Leaders have to listen to the team members ideas and listen their criticism for improvements. Leaders have to be focus all the time. They have to keep on remind themselves and the team members of the goals and mission. Staying on track and keep the team members on track ,the team will stay motivated and more productive. As leader of the group, it is important that you schedule time to meet with your team to establish and check-in about the goals you hope to achieve. Leaders also have to be organized. Leaders are responsible in a lot of things and might be very busy sometimes. A leader can set the tone for the team. A leader who is organized helps motivate team members to be organized as well. As a leader, youre responsible for a lot and youre probably going to be very busy at times. However, you still need to find time to talk with your team. A good way to do this is to set frequent group meetings, so that no question or concern goes too long without attention. Leaders also have to be decisive. Although an important part of being a leader involves listening to the people surrounding, they have to remember that they are not always going to be able to reach a compromise. When this happens, dont be afraid to make the final decision, even if some team members disagree with the plans. Confident is the most important characteristics of a leader, leaders have to believe themselves and the success of the team members. Show others that you are dedicated, intelligent, and proud of what you are doing. A manager basically directs resources to complete predetermined goals or projects. For example, a manager may engage in hiring, training, and scheduling employees in order to accomplish work in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible. A manager is considered a failure if they are not able to complete the project or goals with efficiency. . On the other hand, a leader within a company develops individuals in order to complete predetermined goals and projects. A leader develops relationships with their employees by building communication, exampling images of success, and by showing loyalty. As an example of a manager, A company CEO directs Wong, one of the companies up and coming managers, to hire enough new employees to provide the company with a customer service department. Wong undertakes his project with enthusiasm. He hires only those employees who can work the assigned hours, will accept the modest pay, and have experience working in customer service. He trains his new employees to perform the job to his expectations and assigns the employees to their new positions. Wong measures his success in terms of efficiency, calls handled per hour, and cost effectiveness, for example did he meet his budget?. However, Wong did not anticipate that of the employees he hired, only a handful would remain working six months later. Moreover, as an example of a leader, Ahmed obtains the same assignment as Wong. Ahmed hires employees that he believes he can develop a working relationship with, versus just those employees who will worked the assigned hours and take the modest pay. Ahmeds goal is to hire a diverse group of employees, some of who do not have any customer service experience, who he feels he can develop a personal connection. A large part of Ahmeds training involves team building, telling successful stories, and listening to each employees own desires for what constitutes a fulfilling job. Ahmed still assigns his employees their job duties and schedules at the end of training, and he also measures success in terms of efficient and cost effectiveness, but he also measures success in terms of low employee turnover, employee morale, and employee development. Ahmed feels proud when one of his employees obtains an advance level position a year or two after being hired. The skills to be a leader or a manager are not exclusive in nature. A leader who only displays leadership skills will be ineffective when it comes to checking time cards, completing employee reviews, and scheduling employee vacation time; things that employers require their managers to do on timely bases. Similarly, a manager who spends all his/her time completing paperwork and reading reports; only creates more problems for him or her because they lack a developing relationship with their employees. Many companies, one person may play the role of both leader and manager. In others, these roles are carried out by different people. And in many cases, the roles overlap and leaders need to manage and managers need to lead. However, it is critical that both roles are performed effectively for a company to succeed, especially a company with employees. Without a vision for the future, a company has no direction and no goals for which to strive. Good leaders are made not born. If you have the desire and willpower, you can become an effective leader. Good leaders develop through a never ending process of self-study, education, training, and experience. As a manager who would like to become a better leader to inspire yourÂÂ  employees into higher levels of teamwork, there are certain things you must be, know, and, do. These do not come naturally, but are acquired through continual work and study. Good leaders are continually working and studying to improve their leadership skills. Le aders and managers also have much different conceptions of work itself. Leaders develop new approaches to long-standing problems. Leaders work in high-risk positions because of a strong aversion to mundane work. Conversely, managers view work as an enabling process. Managers tolerate practical, mundane work because of a strong survival instinct that makes them risk-averse. They are good at reaching compromises and mediating conflicts between opposing perspectives, but lack the influence to avoid future conflicts. QUESTION 2: Identify two very different organizations that compete on a cost leadership strategy and explain how they do this, i.e. find out what they do that enables them to keep their prices low. The cost leadership strategic is to gain a competitive advantage. Make it into a simple word, cost leadership is reduce the cost to fight with their competitor in same industry. The organization who need to earn more profit, must reduce the cost to ensure they are not waste any resource. The cost who has reduce more, the company will gain more profit and easy to survive in the market share. Anakku Anakku as famous is selling the baby product. Cost Leadership Strategic Both companies have completed their cost leadership strategic, therefore, both company can survive in the market taking a long period time. Each of them has the plan to reduce the cost and increase their profit. Not even thought, both companies also using the Michael Portal 5 force to operate the companies. And they no using too much of advertising to promote their product, so that, the cost will follow decrease. Next, most of the products like cloth or accessories are make by them. The pattern and the design had been created, so, the companies will produce it with their own manufactory. Follow by this, both companies will try to reduce the damage of the product. They will make sure the product is good. The after-sales service is one of the parts they can do, and get the feedback from the customers, and get to improve better to the customers need. Within the Michael Portal 5 forces, First of all, the bargaining power of supplier. For the Baby Kiko Company, all the product are make by own, so that, the raw material of they used is direct from the manufactory, so the price of the product can easy to under control. An opposite, about the Anakku Company, some if the products like car seat or toys are manufacture from the supplies. Mostly, the Anakku Company will control by the supplier. But, for the Anakku Company, the main product for sell is clothing and the accessories like bottles, teethers, feeding accessories and etc. If the supplies increase the price, so they will change the supplier to get the raw material and try to product good product for their customers. Next, the bargaining power of customer or buyer is one of the forces that both companies used. The price had been set and the customers no have too much or no have power to argue to reduce the price. The entire product had been fix price, unless the company does the promotion like discount, so the customer will get the lower price of the product. Both companies have provided onsite service and after-sale service. And some of the product will give about 1 week to 1 year of warranty depend on the product. The threats of the entry of new competitor will also influence the cost. If got new competitor join into this industry, the company will spend more money to do promotion as like discount or adverting to attract people. This kind of money will increase the cost, so the profit will been decrease. Otherwise, both company had been survive in Malaysia taking a long period time, they have their own popularity in this country. For the Anakku Company, they mostly are produce the safety and useful product. The product no easy to damage and some of the product have the warranty to attract the customer to buy it. This is the advantage for them and no need scare about the new competitor to try to attack them. Besides that, the Baby Kiko Company more is based on the creative and innovative product to attract customers. The design and the fashion are new and look nicely. Based on the customers, they will take feedback and get the new the information to produce the product. Those are the advantage of the both companies; the new competitor does not have too much power and cost to survive. Other than that, the intensity of competitor rivalry it may also influence the cost. Take a basic word, who can get the lower cost, who will win in the market. Therefore, the company must have the power and the capacity to run the business. For Anakku Company, they have many branches in the Malaysia. It will easy to target market and the customers. Anakku Company as a wholesaler otherwise as a retailer. They retail the product directly to the customer, so that, the cost will not be too high to be taken. The technology of Anakku Company use is high-tech machine. According the above statement, the Anakku Company does not have too much of advertising. Running the business around 30 years, the popularity has the value on their customers. For Baby Kiko, they usually are wholesale to the stores that are really preferred to sales. Some hypermarket like Partson or The Store, we can see Baby Kiko product. Wholesale to other store, it can deduct the cost of employee and no need searching the place to run over the business. The customers who are prefer to sell the product, they will delivery it. It may reduce the cost with it. Not even that, Baby Kiko Company also though the internet to promote the product. One of the major website is Facebook to promote. It is free of charge and also can attract more people to know the new product. Other than that, the labour force it may influence the cost available. Anakku Company is more focus on the retail sale, so that, the employee will taking more and more, so the cost relative will increase. From the manufactory to the store, they are too many employees to work. But, the Baby Kiko no taking too much of employee, because they have using the technology like machine or wholesale to other seller. The cost taking is the transportation fee. At last, which companies keep the lower cost; it may easy and expand the business. Besides that, properly using the raw material and do not simply waste too much. Because the waste will direct influence the cost. Have a good plan of cost leadership, the company more easy to survive in the market share.

Estimate the degree of uncertainty in your readings using the balance, the volumetric flask, the pipette and the burette. How accurately can you quote your answer? Balance = à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½0.02g Volumetric flask = à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½0.15mL Pipette = à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½0.04cm3 Burette = à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½0.15cm3 The equipments used were relatively accurate as the uncertainties compared to the collected values are small. 2. Compare your answer with the correct answer and work out the percentage error. Percentage error = [(experimental value – actual value) / actual value] x 100% = [(1.6626 à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½3.48% – 2) / 2] x 100% = 16.87% à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½1.74% 3. Suggest any other reasons for possible error. Other reasons for possible error include the uncertainty of equipments, human errors and mistakes, possibility of contaminated solutions, air bubbles and transference of solution between equipments. This experiment was conducted to find the ratio of water in hydrate oxalic acid crystals. This included calculations of the theoretical and experimental values for the ratio of water in the hydrate oxalic acid crystals and the percentage errors of values compared. The equation for the reaction between the sodium hydroxide solution (NaOH) and the oxalic acid solution ((COOH)2) was worked out, with the product being a salt (NaCO3) and water (H2O). As the oxalic acid solution is a dibasic acid solution, the reaction ratio with sodium hydroxide is 1:2. The amount of NaOH, in moles, was also calculated by multiplying the concentration of the sodium hydroxide solution and the volume of sodium hydroxide solution used. The equation c = n/v was used to calculate this. The result was 0.00194 moles of NaOH in the sodium hydroxide solution with an uncertainty of à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½1.23%. The amount of oxalic acid presented in the average volume required to react exactly with the sodium hydroxide solution was also calculated; by dividing the moles of NaOH (0.00194à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½1.23%) by 2, based on the 1:2 reaction ratio stated before. The result was 0.00097 moles with an uncertainty of à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½1.23%. The amount of oxalic acid present in 250cm3 was also calculated. The concentration of acid in 250mL is the same as the concentration of acid in 1L, therefore, the concentration of acid in 1dm-3 of the oxalic acid solution is the same concentration as the acid in 250mL. With this understood, the equation c = n/v was used once again. The ‘concentration’ was first calculated by dividing the moles of NaOH by 0.25dm3. The result (0.05mols dm-3 à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½2.09), was used in further calculations to determine the moles of oxalic acid by multiplying the previous calculated concentration (0.05mols dm-3 à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½2.09) with 0.25dm3, resulting in the moles of oxalic acid in the 250mL solution as 0.0125mols à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½2.15%. This value was used in the calculation of the mass of one mole of oxalic acid. The equation n = m/MM was used in this calculation. The MM (molar mass) was first calculated, dividing the mass of oxalic acid crystals by the moles of oxalic acid (1.5 / 0.0125). The mass (m = n x MM) was calculated with the result of this (1 x 120à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½3.48%), resulting in the mass of one mole of oxalic acid being 120à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½3.48%. Finally, the molecules of water of crystallisation presented in one mole were calculated. This was done by using the mass of one mole of oxalic acid (120à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½3.48%), subtracting the MM of (COOH)2 (90.04) from it and dividing the result by MM of H2O (18.02). The final result of the number of molecules of water in crystallisation equalled 1.66 with an uncertainty of à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½3.48% or 0.06. With this final result, the percentage error was calculated, being 16.87%à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½1.74%. All the uncertainties within the values used were calculated into percentage through dividing the uncertainty by the value and multiplying it by 100%. The uncertainties were converted into percentages before doing calculations were done. There were several limitations found during this experiment which would have been the cause of an inaccurate final result – the variation between the theoretical value of 2 and the experimental value of 1.66à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½0.06. These limitations include the uncertainties of the equipment, human errors and mistakes, possibility of contaminated solutions, air bubbles found in solutions and the transference of solution between equipments. The significance of these errors and the improvements are listed in the table below. Limitations Significance Improvements Uncertainty of equipments Uncertainties were obtained during the experiment through the use of equipments. The inaccurate recording of data would have affected the results in the end. Eg. The readings on the electronic scale weren’t fully stable and consistent at one value, it varied – increasing and decreasing slightly. In the case of the electronic scale, it was suggested that the variation in weight value was due to the air-conditioning blowing down on it. The air-conditioner could be turned off to reduce the uncertainties and variations. Students could also prevent themselves from breathing heavily down onto the scale while measuring, this could have contributed to the variation as well. Human errors and mistakes Mistakes could affect the outcome and accuracy of results. Eg. While adding water into the volumetric flask to dissolve the oxalic acid crystals, a student accidentally added a little too much, over the 250cm3 that was intended. This would have over diluted the oxalic acid. This could have been avoided through patience while adding the water into the volumetric flask. This could also have been done slowly and carefully, probably using a pipette towards the end – at the 250cm3 mark. Reading the measurement of the pipette, burette and volumetric flask could have been inaccurate, causing results to be inaccurate and in turn affecting the calculations. Inaccuracy could have been due to improper way of reading the measurement. Students should have bent down slightly with the measurement at eye level. Student`s heads should not be tilted but level with the equipment as well. The measurement should also be read at the parallax, not above or below it. Possibility of contaminated solutions The experiment was conducted with the use of several different solutions. These solutions could have accidentally been mixed in with each other, causing the solution to be contaminated. The results obtained due to this could have been inaccurate, affecting the final results. Being careful with the solutions used would help avoid this. Using clean equipments for each different solution, making sure the solutions that are not meant to be placed together do not get mixed with each other. After the use of some of the equipments, they were to be washed and reused for another solution. The equipments were not dried before being used again; this could have diluted the solution and contaminated it. Drying the equipment each time after it is washed/cleaned would prevent access water and dilution of solutions. Air bubbles When transferring the dissolved oxalic acid into the burette, there were some tiny air bubbles. This would have because the measurement to be inaccurate as the air bubbles would have caused the reading of the solution to be greater than it actually is. Over time when the bubbles removed itself from the solution which would have caused a decrease in solution. The inaccurate measurement reading would have affected the final results of the experiment. The burette could have been left alone for awhile to allow the bubbles to float to the top. Whatever the amount the bubbles made up for, fill the burette up again with the use of a pipette. Transference of solution between equipments When transferring solutions between two or more differing equipments would have caused an increase of decrease in measurement. An inaccurate amount of solution would have affected the results or recorded data. When using a funnel during the transference of solution into the burette, it caused some increase in the desired amount. This is due to the tip of the funnel having some drops of solution left in it and when the funnel was removed, the movement could have caused those drops to drop into the burette, causing an increase in amount of solution. This could be prevented by either slowly removing the funnel or using the funnel up to a certain mark, remove it and fill up to the desired amount with the use of a small pipette – drop by drop. When using the 20mL pipette to transfer the sodium hydroxide into the conical flask, the tip of the nozzle had a drop that was tempted to drop out of the pipette. Avoid touching the sides and move the pipette over the flask slowly would reduce the chances of it dripping out and altering the volume of solution. A small amount of the solution was also stuck at the tip of the nozzle after being emptied. By touching the tip to the side of the flask would help that tiny bit of solution flow out. If possible have the nozzle flat on the side of the flask, this would allow it to flow out smoothly. To avoid or reduce these significant errors, these solutions and improvements should be taken into consideration during future repetition of this experiment. The experiment overall was invalid. Though the values in data collection may have been to a 0.10cm3 difference, the final calculation of the percentage error, 16.87%à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½1.74%, was much greater than the desired 1% causing the experiment to be invalid.

Multinational companies Essay

To a lesser extent, multinational corporation such as Wal-Mart are harmful to the global economy. Multinational corporation is a corporation or company that is registered in more than one country or that has operations in two or more countries. Global economy generally refers to the economy, which is based on economies of all of the world’s countries’ national economies. Also, global economy can be seen as the economy of global society and national economics. Globalization is the process by which businesses or other organizations develop international influence or start operating on an international scale. Wal-Mart is an example of globalization due to the fact that Wal-Mart is present in multiple countries and it unites foreign countries with jobs. Sam Walton founder of Wal-Mart was born in 1918 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Mr. Walton opened the first Wal-Mart in 1962 at the age of 44 in Rogers, Arkansas. Sam Walton died in 1992. Mr. Walton left many objects and knowledge behind; one thing was this quote â€Å"If we work together, we’ll lower the cost of living for everyone, we’ll give the world an opportunity to see what it’s like to save and have a better life. † In short this meant Wal-Mart was going to build better customer service for its shoppers and they were going to improve the communities that it was present in. The real question is, did Wal-Mart actually do what they said they would do? Wal-Mart may have contributed thousands of jobs. They have even claimed that they supported the communities, and of course kept prices low so you could save. However to a lesser extent multinational corporation such as Wal-Mart is harmful to the global economy because Wal-Mart creates contaminations and destroys many communities. Wal-Marts main goal is to try to make as much money as possible. For example the company has been caught cutting corners. Also they have been irrational to their employees. Multinational corporations such as Wal-Mart are irrational to the employees because many managers or corporate staffs are racist or sexist to their employees. Wal-Mart does not have the appropriate benefits that an employee needs. They also have immoral pay with horrible hours to go with it. Wal-Mart has been racist to their employees, by insulting them verbally with stereotypical traits that fall from their heritage. For example they have used racial wording to black people. They have also been sexist to woman by putting them down and not giving them the proper rewards they so desperately work for. A example of this is a woman denied a mangers position because she was a woman. The employees’ benefits are immoral. Most employees have to seek government funding to support their families. Most employees get there minimum wage of there province or territory which is not so bad, however the manager gives the full time and part time employees hardly any hours, to try to keep the store’s budget low. Multinational corporations such, as Wal-Mart, destroy part of the environment and community that they are present in. The Wal-Mart franchise causes small businesses to shut down. Their own parking lots are not safe and the stores pollute public rivers and streams. With their low prices and low operating cost small business cannot compete with those prices. Because of this those businesses cannot make money and fall apart. They have sold their store at a lower price then intended because when a Wal-Mart shows up relaters know buildings will become vacant and almost un able to sell unless at a lower price. Wal-Mart stores pollute rivers and streams by leveeing out pesticides in their parking lots. From that action when weather changings it can cause the harmful chemicals to drip of the product and find it way in to a cities drinking water. In the stores they have cameras to catch what ever is going on, however outside they due not. From this poor choice many crimes have been committed out side the stores own doors such as rape and murder. Also they don’t have someone monitoring the cameras so if something happens, another person would have to help or report it. Multinational corporations such as Wal-Mart cut corners. Wal-Mart has many sweatshops around the world with inhuman working conditions. Those employees have absolutely no benefits and Wal-Mart use child labor. In the factories, they are mostly located in third world areas, the factories have no air conditioning, unreasonable hours of work with less then a dollar a day for pay. Also in some factories you are almost forced to live with your coworkers in a tiny room with hardly anything to save on money. The pay is even worse for kids because to Wal-Mart they are more expendable. To a lesser extent Multinational Corporation such as Wal-Mart is harmful to the global economy. Due to the fact that Wal-Mart is racist and sexist to their employees, it does not have the appropriate benefits for their employees. They pollute rivers and streams and destroy small business in a community. Wal-Mart supports child labor and sweatshops. To conclude this position paper multinational corporations such as Wal-Mart are harmful to the global economy because they their true colors of who they are and that all they want to do at the end of the day is make money.

How to structure a winning executive summary for your bid

How to structure a winning executive summary for your bid How to write a winning executive summary for your bid The executive summary of your bid, tender or proposal is the most important part of the entire document. And how you structure your executive summary is key to how well it works. However well-written the rest of your bid or sales proposal is, many people will only have the time (or motivation) to read the executive summary. More than this, these readers will often be key decision-makers. This could be a problem, as often this crucial section ends up being something of an afterthought: a few paragraphs or pages that get dashed off when the author is already exhausted from writing the real proposal. And doing that could be a costly mistake. So how do you summarise a carefully argued document – which can sometimes run to dozens of pages – into a one or two page executive summary? The secret is to keep one idea in mind: Your executive summary is a journey. Your executive summary is like a miniature version of your entire bid or proposal. Like your bid or proposal, its a way of guiding your client from where they are now to where they need to be – and making it clear why they need your help in getting there. This article will walk you through each stage of this journey, so that by the end youll know how to write executive summaries that give your bid the best possible chance of winning. Situation First things first: you need to start your summary somewhere safe and non-controversial. Begin with where your prospect is now, giving a summary of their present situation. Dont be contentious – its important to begin from a place of consensus between you and your prospect. Why things must change After outlining your clients position, you need to make it clear you understand why things need to change. Ask yourself: Why did your client put this out to bid or tender in the first place? An organisation issues an ITT or RFP because they have a particular set of problems to address or important needs to be met. Now is your chance to convincingly show you really understand them and can sum them up clearly. Research is key to really nailing this part of the summary. Dont skip it. Theres no way to effectively understand how your client sees their problems without going out and learning more about them. Learn everything you can about the prospects problems as they understand them. You want to be writing about the problem in their terms, using their language, so you can show you understand the problem exactly as they do. If you or one of your colleagues knows the client (such as someone else in sales or account management), talk to them to learn more. If you have any emails where the client has talked about their problems and challenges, read them. And if you have an opportunity to talk to the client yourself, take it. What your proposed solution is Next comes your proposal. This will outline how your solution can solve the problems your prospect faces. The most important ideas to include here are win themes – the areas that youve identified as being the most important things to communicate to your client. Should you emphasise that you are the most experienced provider? The cheapest? The most secure? Do you offer an approach to the solution that will particularly resonate with your client? Use what you think they regard as most important to guide you on this: dont assume or just stress what youre proud of. When youre highlighting win themes, make sure to back them up with something concrete. To take our example proposal (below), we dont just say we take a systematic approach. Instead, we talk about how we take a systematic approach, giving specific information about our writing analysis. Reassurance Its only after youve shown a clear understanding of your prospects situation that you should offer some information about your company. You want to make it clear that youre a capable organisation who can handle the problem (and that your client isnt going to regret choosing you!). Talking about your own company earlier than this point sends the message that youd sooner talk about yourself than explain your solution to your prospect. Indeed, its a very common mistake to talk too much about your own company and not much about your client. To avoid it, try this rule of thumb: if youve mentioned your own company more than youve mentioned your client, you need to go back and check if youre really making your bid or proposal about your clients needs (and not about how great your organisation is). What it looks like in practice: example executive summary You can download an example of an executive summary and see this structure in practice here. And if youd like to see it in action on your own bids or proposals, check out our Bid, tender and sales-proposal writing course for individuals and for teams. Style But how can you condense dozens of pages into one or two? First, youll need to ensure your written style is clear and concise. Have a look at our articles on keeping it short and simple and using the active voice for more. You can also cut down on space by using bullet points, or if you have a particularly compelling graphic, you can use that too. Getting it right The executive summary is the part of your bid or proposal that most readers will read – and it could be the only part that key decision-makers look at. It can take time to distil everything down into a few pages. But get it right and youll take your reader on a simple, persuasive journey through your arguments – a journey which has the best possible chance of ending in your bid getting the thumbs up. Hinduism Essays - Indian Philosophy, Mindbody Interventions

Hinduism Essays - Indian Philosophy, Mindbody Interventions Hinduism Hinduism Hinduism is such a complex religion it is a very difficult topic for individuals to study. The fact that Hindus have no specific God and they have so many different belief systems made it difficult for me to interpret. Hinduism is considered one of the world?s largest religions?s and was created in the Indian subcontinent. Hinduism is not just a religion; it is more so the way of life. It has its own beliefs and traditions. It is a group formed of diverse traditions and has no specific supernatural being or no single holy text. According to Huxley (2010) ?Hinduism unites the worship of many gods with a belief in a single divine reality? (p. 78). Hindus also believes that on the death of the body the soul passes to or is reborn in another body, which is reincarnation. Sense Hindus have a strong believe in reincarnation they do not determine death as the end of life or a fear, instead they acknowledge death as a resurrection of the soul. They do not focus death on fear. Hinduism is suc h a powerful religion that it has persuaded the world with its informed beliefs. This particular religious group has a freedom of practice and belief. Hinduism has been a huge influence amongst the world for many years. It is a known religion that has created practices such as Yoga, Tantra, Karma, and so on. It is a religious tradition that could never really be categorized with any specific belief system for instance, theism, monotheism, and so forth. Hindus believe that there is only one supreme spirit ?Brahman?. On the other hand, it does not indicate that they worship a particular deity. For spiritual growth or advice Hindu seeks what they call ?Guru?, which is a spiritual teacher. For example, Christians and other religious groups have priest and Hindus have Guru?s. Within Hinduism there are many gods and goddesses that could all represent some form of Brahman. Hindus adore animals, spirits, and trees. Hindus are very devoted to respecting animals, in fact they believe that they were once human or either will be human in another life. Within Hinduism it is said that different individuals requires different spiritual paths and that individual?s personality can help establish the type of yoga to practice. The first yoga is the Jnana Yoga, which means ?Knowledge Yoga?. It is a yoga that is appropriate for priests. Then there is the Karma Yoga, which refers to ?Action Yoga?. This particular yoga helps a person gain a sense of wanting to do things out of passion rather than doing something in returns of a reward. This type of yoga suggests when work is performed unselfishly; the reward is greatness or perfection. Another yoga practice is Bhakti Yoga, which is ?Devotion Yoga?. It is a form of yoga that fosters love and faith. It can engage expressions of devotion such as, food offerings, chants, songs, and so on. There is the Raja Yoga, which stands for ?Royal Yoga?. This practice promotes meditation. It is a yoga that gives a person some mental stability and helps one gain a sense of peace. An additional yoga practice is the Hatha Yoga, which means ?Force Yoga?. Hatha Yoga includes exercises that make a long meditation period easier to follow; which includes balancing, stretching, and breathing techniques. A different form of yoga is Kundalini Yoga, which is a combining of the hatha yoga and the raja yoga. Kundalini Yoga shows that there are seven psychic centers, called Chakras. Huxley (2010) noted that ?the chakras are centers through which energy rises from the base of the spine to the crown of the head? (p. 95). Chakras help increase insight and joy during meditation There are many cultural and societal influences that have made Hinduism vital to the region in which it originated. India was a land that was a full of diverse cultures, races, and religions. Hinduism brought tranquility to the land; they believed in nonviolence. Many intruders of the region influenced the development of Hinduism over the centuries. The intruders that invaded India, their religion of Vedas persuaded the indigenous beliefs of Hinduism. The Hindu culture is vegetarian which is also an influence that encourages
